FUNDRAISING UPDATE!!

    A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!
Our Team has been doing a phenomenal job of raising money to help find a cure to end breast cancer!  We owe a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you, for your continued support!  We certainly would not be successful with out the support of each and every one of you!
For about the past two months, we have been teetering in and out of the "Top 10" Teams for fund raising.  We are pleased to announce - that we have been pretty solid #7 for the past 2 weeks now.  We are closing in behind the #6 team....behind by only $18!  Who would ever think we would be so competitive - in a fun way of course!  :-)
Our team has raised slightly over $32,000!!  WoW!!   But, we are far from done; however!!  We still have 24 days of work to go, before the walk begins!  Our goal is to reach $40K - before August 20th.  We have high hopes of achieving a "Power Team" - which is a team whose average funds raised is $3300 per team member before the start of the walk.
If you are able to make a tax deductible donation - please don't wait!  Donate today.  Each donation is greatly appreciated.  Visit my personal 3 Day website the bottom of this post.
Each team member has gone through a lot of work - physically, mentally and emotionally as we've worked to prepare for this walk.   We continue to work hard - both fundraising and training.
We believe that we are making a difference!  We believe that there will be a world without breast cancer!  http://www.the3day.com/goto/kerriedwards

Easy way for you to help with Fundraising!

Recycling used inkjet and laser printer cartridges and cell phones.  Turn your empty inkjet & laser cartridges and cell phones into cash for our team!  We are helping keep the earth clean while earning funds for our cause.

Please keep all old cell phones, empty ink cartridges, as well as toner cartridges from copying machines.  I would be happy collect them and turn them in for cash for my fundraising goal!
Ask your employers - maybe they would be willing to give the old ones to you as well!  It's a pretty easy fundraiser!  :-)

I Luv Getting Mail

When you're out walking 60 Miles, it's hotter than the dickens, there's yet another hill, you're tired not only from walking, but from sleeping in a tent - where the lady next to you snores...it's GREAT to get some support from others!

It's is SO inspiring to get MAIL and LETTERS from people to keep you going!

I WOULD LOVE to hear from all of my family and friends!   You can send me letters, pictures, post cards.....any fun little words of wisdom!  :-)  It's fun to receive....plus, it makes me feel "s-p-e-c-i-a-l!"  :-)  Hee hee!

Letters need to be post marked by August 10, 2010.  I will be checking my little "Camp mail box" Friday and Saturday night!!  I'll be looking forward to your letter!

What is it???????

I seem to have this little problem when I walk.  I guess has to do with the way my toes are shaped.  I'm blaming it on fat feet...and stubby toes!
Many times, when I walk, I get a blister on the entire pad of my 4th toe.  Both feet.  It doesn't seem to matter what I've done - it just happens.  My 3rd toe takes over...and steps on the 4th toe or something.  I'm not totally sure what's going on inside my shoe!  But, I have tried Glide, mole skin, bandaids....I thought I tried it all.

Until - I found these SUPER cool shoes!  They are called "Vibrams" or "Five Finger Shoes"  I figured that it might be the perfect solution.  These cool shoes keep your toes separated - much like a pair of gloves would do on your hands.  They look CRAZY .. but, I figured I would give them a try!

After reading 34 reviews, all of which were 4 or 5 star, I went to REI and tried them on.  They felt a little weird - but not too bad.  The guy in the store did tell me that they took some getting used to.  He said he could barely walk after the first time he ran in them.  I asked him how far he went....thinking he was going to say 10 miles or something - but...his answer "about 1/4 of a mile!"  Hmmm....

The first walk I did with them - was NO problem.  I did feel a slight area that rubbed on my big toe - but it was totally tolerable.  I did this walk 4 Miles - which I figured was a "light" walk...as a break in type, with no issues.  They actually felt comfortable!

Day two of these shoes - I got a little more adventurous.  My neighbor was dropping her vehicle off at a shop and was going to walk home.  Knowing we needed to get in some longer training walks, I thought this was a great idea.  Once again, I decided to give the shoes a try.

W W W W e l l l l.  It all started fine.  But, at about the 4 mile mark - I stopped and put some glide on my heels.  I told Susan, that I must have "gotten to much dry skin off my heels" because they were starting to hurt.  I figured the Glide would be a life saver.

About 1 1/2 miles from home, I stepped on a little rock.  It hit on my heel - and I literally screamed.  Susan and I were kind of surprised that a rock would hurt - since these shoes were supposed to be great for walking on rocks.

By the time we got home, I had probably mentioned that I could NOT scrubb the dry/dead skin off my heals any more....because they were really starting to hurt.  Much to my surprise - when I got home and took of my "bat man shoes"....  I just about CRIED.

This is not a picture of my chest.....it is the bottom of my feet!  :-(

But....I now know, that my Team name "Blisters 4 Boobs" is so appropriate!  I will say however; that I would do it again....if one person was spared going through breast cancer!!
