Come Cheer on the Walkers

The cheering stations are one of the biggest motivators during the walk!   Just when you are feeling hot, sweaty and tired….there is a cheering station to help re-vamp the energy!
What a GREAT feeling!  You feel like you are a star in a parade when people are thanking you for walking, handing out freezy pops, ice cubes, life savers, clapping and cheering you one!

Would love to see you join us!  It's an event you won't forget!

Why Walk Again?

I am often asked why I continue to walk. Raising at least $2300....and all of the training! That all takes up so much time!  By the time I complete the 2011 walk ~ I will have walked 240 miles (this of course, doesn't include any of the training miles.)

Yes, this is true!  But, no words can describe the feeling of completing such a journey. I will be the first to tell you, that walking 60 miles is extremely hard work!! The fundraising....well ~ I like to call that "FUN" raising. Just makes the events a lot more exciting :-)

I firmly believe that each step we take ~ and each dollar we raise, brings us closer to a cure. With the prevalence of breast cancer in my and my husbands families, I simply can not walk away.

The wonderful people that I've met along the way...the friendships made, the tears shared, the storied heard. . . the entire experience simply can't be explained in words. This event is truly a life changing experience! It is the most rewarding experience ~ minus the birth of my children ~ that I have ever had!

I continue to walk ~ because I have a 12 year old daughter. I continue to walk ~ because I have nieces, sisters, aunts, friends. I continue to walk ~ because I believe we WILL win the fight. I continue to walk ~ because EVERYONE deserves a lifetime!!

Thoughts from a Walker

Many people feel that walking 60 miles is crazy!  But who wouldn't walk the world ~ if it would bring a loved one back.  Walking 60 Miles is not for everyone!  It is challenging and at times ~ very painful!

Fundraising is tough!  Asking people to donate their hard earned dollars is harder than the walk itself!  However; it's humbling to see your generosity!  When people are given the chance to help someone else and you show them how passionate you are about the cause, they always shine through.

The longer I stay involved in this journey, the more reasons I have to continue walking! Each year, I've met knew people, heard unbelievable stories and shared tears. . . not only tears of pain but also tears of joy.

In a time when there is so much violence, hatred and terrorism, this journey allows me to see ~ that there truly are MANY wonderful people in this world!

A cure IS out there! One day we will know that everything we've done during this journey was worth each and every step!!

In less than a week ~ I again will lace up my tennies. . . don my 'PINK' ~ and set out on my 4th Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure.  Much more than a 60 Mile walk….It's an AMAZING journey!!

Making the most . . . and getting a little "crazy" on a training walk.

Team "Blisters 4 Boobs" thanks
every one of you for your support!  We will continue to walk  : : :  until we find a cure!

Walkers Love Getting Mail

One of the simplest, yet most exciting things during the 3 Day walk ~ is getting mail from family and friends! Although doesn't seems like anything much....it's so AWESOME to read all the words of encouragement from friends and family. I would ♥ to hear from you this year! After walking 20 or more miles, coming back to camp to and getting mail that makes you smile, laugh or even cry is THE BEST!

You can send mail now and they will hold it until walk.

This letter is from "Anna".  The most precious letter I received last year.  It was from a classmate from high schools daughter....who was concerned about me walking 60 Miles!  She sent me her change from her piggy bank, to make sure I could get something to eat and drink.  (Click on image to enlarge)

HIP HIP HURRAY!

I'm excited to say I have achieved my fundraising minimum of $2300!!  Thank you THANK YOU!  Thank you to each and every one of you that have attended fundraisers and donated to my efforts.
I am not done fundraising however!  I have a personal goal of $5,000 and am going to do what I can to get as close as possible to this goal.
Less than 2 weeks from today I'll be venturing out on my 2011 journey of 60 Miles.  Together we will find the cure for breast cancer!
