My Dedication....

In 2008, when I walked participated in my first "3 Day", I signed up without a team.  My mother in law soon told me, that her cousin Barb was going through breast cancer treatment.  Barb's kids had formed a team, and were participating in the walk as "Barb's Bust Brigade".
I was extremely fortunate for Karen (Barb's daughter), Julie and Tara (Barb's niece) to take me under their wings and let me join their team.  What an amazing group of ladies!  It's absolutely amazing how well you get to know people.....after the course of 60 miles!!
Unfortunately, Karen and Julie were not able to participate in the walk in 2009.  Tara, however; was able to be on the Crew.  Even though Karen was not able to walk, I could almost guarantee that Barb and Lee (her husband) would attend nearly every fundraising event that we sponsored.  Although last summer, I knew she was not feeling well at all Barb would still arrive, with a warm smile on her face!  Definitely a true fighter and a dedicated supporter!!  Barb passed away on January 17, 2010 at the tender age of 66 after a courageous 10 year battle with breast cancer.
I am truly blessed to have had the privilege of knowing Barb.  It is with pleasure that I dedicate my 2010 60 Mile Breast Cancer Walk....in Memory of Barbara Jean Metz!
